[ although he cannot remove the pain completely, what he does remove makes his own body quiver, makes his stomach twist. he grits his teeth against the pain and growls again, a warning to himself more than anything. he won't be able to keep control if he lets this go on too much longer. pain kicks up his defenses, makes his hackles rise.
but soon there's no pain left to take, and just as he thinks he might tip over out of control, he lets out a breath of relief, ribbons of black swirling up his arm and slowly fading away. he doesn't have a moment to wonder at the pain, though, because instead he has a large woof snuffling at him. ]
